The Measure of the Flooding Control System
The measure of the flooding control failure is determined by the combination of the key event. The combination takes place in the AND and OR gates. The AND gate means that the combination of the events depends on the occurrence of the other. For the failure to occur, the two events must happen simultaneously (Barlow, 29). The OR gate means that for the failure to occur, at least one of the events must occur. The OR gate means that all the events can occur and cause failure but only one event is enough to cause the failure.
From the diagram above, the flooding in the region relies on the occurrence of many events. Some of the events might fail to occur and still the failure taker place. For example, the event number seven might not occur but the failure takes place because of the OR gate in the system. For the failure to occur, the events two and three must happen.
