Population Size
The population size of New York is high compared to the size of other cities. According to the United States Census Bureau (2018), the population of the city has been estimated as of July 2017 to be approximately 8.6 million. The city has had a 5.5% increase in population from April 2010 to July 2017. Consequently, this high population makes New York as the most populated city in America. Furthermore, research indicates that 43.1 % of the population is white, 24.4% is African American, 13.7% is Asian, 29% is Hispanic, and the other races form small percentages of the population (United States Census Bureau, 2018). The different races are evidence that the city is not only uniquely large but also ethnically diverse.
Economic Performance
The economy of New York has been growing significantly over the years. Research indicates that employment has increased significantly in the private sector, healthcare, retail, professional services, and the retail industry (NYC, 2018). A study conducted in New York affirms that the city has gained over 500000 jobs in the private sector from 2010 to 2015.
