Components of an Information System
An information system refers to a network of several components that cooperate for the purpose of transforming data for it to be viewed as information (Bourgeois, 2014). The various components found in an information system include hardware, software, human resource, database, and procedure. The components cooperate such that aspects that include input, output procedure, control, and feedback are experienced. Hardware entails media appliances, output and input appliances, the operating systems and the processor while software entails several programs and processes. The database includes structured data while the procedure entails network appliances, communication broadcasts, and hubs. The human resource includes people who function as the operators of the devices, the system specialists and system administrators (Stair & Reynolds, 2013).
The five-component model is significant as it may assist in guiding my learning and thought about the information systems in various ways in regard to the fact that the components tend to be symmetric. The external components that include human resource and hardware may engage in activities as they are viewed as actors. Both the procedure and software are viewed as forms of instruction while the data, which is at the center, is viewed as the bridge that connects the computer section and the human section (Stair & Reyn…
