Introduction
Wound care is very vital for patients with diabetes and the elderly. The patients with diabetes are prone to wounds because of the insulin imbalances in the blood sugar levels (Shah et al., p. 49). On the other hand, the elderly are prone to wounds because they spend much of their time on the bed. The memorandum is a proposal for the creation of a healthcare program by nurses toward preventing the growth of wounds through adopting a three-time away wound care process.
Strengths
The program proposed will increase the frequency of wound care delivery per day hence improving on the outcome.
The program proposed will act as a working schedule for nurses when it comes to attending to patients that need wound care.
The program will end up improving on patient outcomes by mitigating the effects of the wound which some patients it could be fever, severe pain and even limiting a patients mobility (Kaplan, Daly, and Stemkowski, p. 129).
Weaknesses
The program will be demanding as far as nursing resources are a concern. There is a scarcity of nurses (Heckemann et al., p. 214) and therefore the program may fail due to inadequate nurses.
The program will require a lot of resources that are needed to provide wound care.
