Biography of William Shakespeare
William Shakespeare commonly referred to as England’s national poet or the ‘Bard of Avon’ was an accomplished playwright, poet, and actor. His exact dates of birth are unknown, but historians estimate his year of birth to be 1564 at Stratford-upon-Avon, England. He was a third-born son in a family of six of John Shakespeare and Mary Arden who worked as leather merchants. It is believed that Shakespeare attended King’s New School although no evidence has been found to this effect (Hadfield and Kenny 5). He actively participated in the Chamberlain’s Men Company of theatrical players in his mid-life. His transition to playwriting is mysterious as evidence to these facts is lacking. In his writings, Shakespeare captured range of conflict and human emotion.
Shakespeare recorded 37 plays from in between 1594 to 1613majoring in a variety of themes. The themes include comedies, histories, tragicomedies and tragedies to arouse feelings. His works include the renowned Romeo and Juliet, Merchant of Venice, Much Ado about nothing a midsummer night’s dream and many others (Holderness para.5). The recordings have received world recognition and are read more than any other books in their category.
