Friends TV show is the greatest sitcom ever to grace our television screens. First airing in 1994, this sitcom grew into a something everybody liked and still to the present it never gets old. In a way this TV show can be equated to melted cheese which everybody loves, never does it get old and above all, we cannot imagine how life would be without this TV show (Friedman, 54). All the main characters in this show represent some aspects of people in real life.
Joey Tribbiani –In this show, this character portrays the idiot or the stupid one and the horny character. He makes awkward sex jokes. He is there to express the deep perverse desires people have as well as say all the filthy things people want to hear but cannot say them out loud themselves (Mills, 115).
Ross Geller- He portrays the straight guy in this show. This is a character we all relate to and empathize with as they are the “normal person.” He grounds the entire sitcom as he serves as the center. Joey is considered an idiot by comparing him to Ross. All other characters’ comparison is based on the straight guy (Wells-Lassagne, 75).
Chandler Bing- He portrays the funny one. Chandler uses sarcasm almost every sentence he speaks. Cracks up jokes and he is the one keeping the group alive by bringing in occasional laughter.
Monica Geller- She portrays the uptight people in society. Everything has to go her way and exactly as she planned it or else chaos will arise.
