In the Roman Catholic Church, saints are human beings who died and are in heaven (Dummies). Therefore, they assume that everybody who is in heaven is typically a saint. Additionally, saints are individuals who lived a holy life following God’s will. Someone is pronounced a saint after his or her death (Dummies). Most of the saints have virtues that support and empower their religious convictions. Faith is a virtue that enables religious conviction.
Fasting is the will of an individual to go for a period without food or drink or both. Fasting is also an act that is mostly practiced by believers to strengthen their faith. However, it is challenging for some dedicated believers, but Symeon Stylites could not be allowed to stay in the monastery due to fasting (Harness). He was able to fast for forty days during the Lent season in the Roman Catholic Church without food and drink. Symeon moved to live in a hut after being kicked out of monastery where he spent a year and a half fasting; it was a miracle for him to come out of the hurt alive.
Symeon moved to a cave where he sought solitude, but crowds gathered outside it seeking counsel and prayers from him. Since he had strong faith in silent prayers and fasting, he moved to Syria where he stayed on a 13-foot-tall pillar (Harness).
