Ladies and Gentlemen,
Allow me to share with you in brief the details of a song that I feel we all relate to at some point in our lives. Produced by the late Michael Jackson, Will You Be There is a cry for some kind of divine intervention (Nici25). The song, written amidst the artist’s woes related to drug addiction, sexual assault allegations and claims of plagiarism by other singers, was a plea to the God to intervene in the middle of his life crisis.
This song remains my favorite for various reasons. I believe that at some point in life, we all experience challenges that cannot be solved by fellow human beings. Michael Jackson’s fans expected more from him, as though he was some god. Amidst such a life crisis, our faces turn to the God for divine intervention. Irrespective of our religious affiliations, there are challenges that we feel we cannot solve on our own, or with the help of our friends and family. I realize that I am connected with this song most of the time that I am in some kind of life crisis. I find solace in the hope of some divine intervention in my life.
Humanity can find Michael Jackson’s song useful in multiple instances. Despite the fact that the late artist was very rich and globally famous, he could still not rely on his own effort to jump out of the challenges associated with drug addiction and multiple lawsuits against him.
