Language impairment can be described as a form of a disorder that tampers with individual capabilities in learning, using and understanding of either written or spoken language. In children, this form of the disorder usually affects their ability to read, write, understand, and talk. In the case where an individual has articulation disorder, is not capable of producing a specific sound. This situation makes it very difficult to understand what a person is trying to say because the person cannot physically produce sounds as they are supposed (Heward et al. 266). The language impairment, in this case, is a severe condition given that it affects individual intelligibility.
Phonological disorder is a form of impairment presents a situation where there is inconsistency in how a person produces sounds. The language impairment prompts a person to produce a specific sound correct sometimes and do it incorrectly in other instances (Heward et al., 266). A person with such a situation is likely to experience problems in writing as well as reading. There is a likelihood of similar delays to occur given that phonology is a critical element of language and therefore dictates the learning process.
