Florida Constitution Revision Commission
What is its Purpose? Why was it Created?
The Florida Constitution Revision Commission is a commission made up of 37 members and which is provided for by the constitution of Florida. The main purpose of this commission to make proposals regarding the Florida Constitution (Ballotpedia 1). It makes amendments proposals and refers them directly to the public for them to vote. It happens to be the only commission in the United States that can refer amendments directly to the ballot. It was created to assist in improving the constitution by proposing changes that would serve this purpose.
Importance of Constitutional Reforms
Ideally, a constitution cannot be created in readiness for consumption at the same time. Many important aspects need to be updated accordingly after the constitution has been created to align with the changing needs. The world is dynamic characterized by many changes. As such, the constitution should also be reformed for it to embrace and incorporate the new trends. The other importance of constitutional reform is to include new aspects that would be of significance to the state.
