Analysis of 12 angry men movie
The film twelve angry men is about the twelve jurors that could influence the decision-making process on the conviction of an eighteen years old boy, on whether he is guilty or not of killing his father. The movie represents a workgroup development framework example of the jurors and the techniques of influence among the jurors. This paper focusses on the analysis of reasons of why juror eight is more effective than the others and uses the methods of influencing other group members which are; coalition building reason, bargaining, assertiveness and higher values. Juror eight says that we are talking about the life of a person and we cannot make a decision in five minutes. Ha also talks about the background of the boy saying is from slums. He used coalition building method to seek the position of the other jurors. He is not sure whether the defendant is innocent but it was possible he was innocent because at the end of the movie we see he has convinced the others.
Juror eight also continue to appeal other jurors by using their higher values by reinforcing their judicial obligation for doubt on the conviction of their decision. He pledges to them to look on facts more carefully. He uses bargaining as an instrument for exchange when he calls for another vote from the jurors on the decision of whether the boy was guilty or not and if they decide not to continue with the deliberation until they come up with a rational a…
