Age Theory
The theory states that the perception of the length of time is a direct inverse to the actual age. Mathematically, the equation is expressed as perception of age (p) = (Constant)/ (actual age (age)). The product of perception of a length of time and the actual age gives the constant of proportionality. The constant is computed by having a set of the two variables and finding the average product of each set (Allan, 2009). For the calculations let’s take the constant as 1000 years. The new equation states as;
p= 1000/age.
If the actual age doubles, the perception of a length of time decreases. For example, at age of 20, a year feels like 200 days. If the age doubles to 40 years, a year feels like 100 days. The length of perception time decreased by 50%. Mathematically, ptime 1= 4000/20=200 days, ptime 2= 4000/40=100days.
The relationship between time one and two is 50 % ratio. Ratio = (ptime 1)/ (ptime 2) = 200/100=2. The relationship changes with a factor proportional to the actual age. The perception time decreases as the actual age increases or as one becomes older. The answers show that the perception of time is a function of the actual age. The product of the real age and perception of a length of time is constant for each set (Allan, 2009). Mathematically the product is given by constant=age ×perception time.
The graph for the points used shows that the perception of a length of time is inver…
