The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) was signed into law by the former USA President Barrack Obama. Since its inception in 2010, it has benefited both the service providers and the patients (Reece, 2014). However, it has resulted in increased costs and workload on the healthcare providers. As a result, the quality of care has also been compromised. Hence, the Congress’ push to have the Act repealed and replaced.
Repealing and replacing the ACA has been top of the Congress agenda. This decision has been reached following the high expenditure and work incurred by the care providers. On the same note, there is the concern about the quality of care offered. To ensure that the healthcare system remains effective the Congress wants it repealed. The Obamacare has tremendously increased the number of patients per doctor. This change has forced the institutions to spend more on facilities while doctors are overworked. In some regions, healthcare institutions have been closed down following the lack of adequate funds. On the other hand, patients lack quality care as caregivers cannot give maximum attention because of the large numbers (Mody & Blackwood, 2018). The Affordable Care Act has had its setbacks; however, these issues could be corrected by increasing government funding for hospitals and building more facilities. Besides, more healthcare providers should be trained and recruited.
