Why I Chose the Topic
I chose the topic on-air talent because I am interested in journalism and communication. Announcers, especially in sports broadcasts, are listened worldwide during international matches. On-air talent gives information on what is happening in the field during the game. Some of the game fans do not have access to televisions hence they rely on announcers to get match updates.
International announcers are very qualified professionally since they steer the conversation during the match (Hutchins 360). I like the way they change their tones when announcing depending on the context. For instance, they shout more when a goal is scored and speak faster when the striker is dribbling the ball and about to shoot. Example of sports broadcasters was Mike Breen in World Cup 2014.
What You Learned about It
I have learned that sports broadcasters have different roles in their profession. The play-by-play voice gives the first-hand news on what is happening in the field. The play-by-play voice is international broadcasters and has experience and expertise in sports broadcasting.
Again the sports broadcasters set up the analyst team and provide the promos during games (Hutchins 364). It requires a lot of research to have player statistics at the fingertips since they provide enough player history during the match.
