Intrapersonal intelligence involves the innate ability for an individual to comprehend their inner self or world totally. It is also referred to as the core characteristic of a person that makes the individual know himself/herself deeply and comes with accurate self-assessment and a strong introspection (Moran 145). This process of self-understanding or intrapersonal intelligence has its importance on individual development.
One of the main importance things of intrapersonal intelligence is the ability to develop an adept understanding of their strength, personality, attribute, and feelings. This allows one to make appropriate decisions that suit their personal position and growth. Also, intrapersonal intelligence creates self-awareness and intuitiveness which allow one to discern and respond to their situation and surroundings appropriately adequately. This allows an individual to understand his/her limits, temperaments, and desire when tackling different situations in his/her life. Lastly, having intrapersonal intelligence makes one goal-oriented, self-motivated and develop metacognitive skills (Moran 148). These attributes allow one to develop strategic thinking during learning and become aware of their purpose and limitation when handling different tasks. As such, an individual is capable of setting personal goals and achieving their objective without supervision.
