Gulliver`s Travels is a narrative that revolves around the life of Lemuel Gulliver, from the town of Nottingham in England. He is a surgeon by profession and is married. He loves traveling, and his adventures begin when he heads out on a voyage to the South Seas. The ship that he boards is caught in a storm and gets washed up on an island called Lilliput. Gulliver demonstrates that he is a practical man and reasonable man from his actions in a number of ways.
Gulliver comes to the realization that he can free himself but he decides to wait and let events unfold themselves. He has the right to break free, but he is patient enough to wait for the people of Lilliput to do it themselves. Gulliver in another instance has the impulse to pick up around forty residents of Lilliput and smash them on the ground, but he chooses not to act in this manner (Swift, 1887).
Additionally, Gulliver does his best to ensure that the people view him in the best way possible. In this regard, he makes sure that he learns and also speaks in their language.
