Philosophical Analysis of the Movie, The Matrix
The movie, The Matrix is described as a movie of philosophical views. Once a person reads in between the lines, they definitely see ideas that relate to real life situations. For instance, the movie has an aspect of Socratic irony in a common occurrence in the real world. It also showcases willful ignorance an act that many people apply in real life. Similarly, the fictional character of the oracle is evident in the film. Therefore, this paper highlights willed ignorance, Socratic irony, and Oracle as they have been used in the film The Matrix.
The movie has the main character of an oracle which is a female priest who gives people wise and mysterious advice from the gods since she is more familiar with the subject at hand. The character is seen in Sofia Foster as she tries to give advice to the human beings trying to fight the matrix. However, her foreseeing power is due to careful calculations she makes regarding a situation, For instance, when she predicts Neo’s choice between the life of Morpheus and his own life(The Wachowski Brothers, The Matrix). The Oracle knew very well that the agents would search for Morpheus just like Neo was looking for “the one” and having seen how Cypher had reacted she predicted what was likely to happen.
