List of Jefferson’s four assertions and explanation
Before Declaration of Independence, Jefferson came up with four significant assertions that the British government needed to grant the colonists. Every person is essential to the nation hence equality for all people irrespective of race and gender had to be considered. Also, a list of unleniable rights to protect all individuals was established among them right to Life, the right to liberty and pursuit of happiness. The constitution has to guard the rights, and all power has to be extracted from the approval of the citizens. Additionally, people should be granted the right to abolish any form of destructive government and institute a new government (US 1776).
List of three grievances and explanation.
Jefferson wrote a draft of 27 grievances that the British government had to grant the colonists. Main grievances include; British colonialists had to abolish taxes imposed on the colonies without a formal consent since taxing some commodities affects all people. Also, the colonists need to be granted voting rights which is essential when selecting leaders of their choice (US 1776). Third, parliament could not represent the colonialists.
