The film is an enthralling documentary regarding the peak of the black power movement in the US. The film is a tragicomedy of both fear and hope (Meyer, 2017). The black panthers were born during the 1960s, an era that was characterized by anxiety associated with the assassination of Kennedy. They were infuriated by racism, segregation, discrimination, and bullying tactics used by the police towards the black community. Likewise, revolutionary rhetoric from Africa, South-East Asia, and Cuba inspired them to fight for emancipation (Meyer, 2017). The film provides a robust recap of the rebirth of demonstrations against police cruelty and the civil rights movement in the US.
While the country focused racial relations on the South due to the stubborn pacifists’ protests, the national discourse took an astounding turn. During this period, the Black Panther party was founded in Oakland, Calif (Meyer, 2017). Primarily, the party was aimed at responding to persistent harassment of the African American society by the police.
