Noam Chomsky is perhaps the most discussed political philosophers in recent times due to his focus on contemporary political trends that continue to impact us. In her book, ‘Requiem for the American dream’ the author attempts to identify 10 major factors that dictate the accumulation of wealth and power in the rapidly shifting political environment. In this context, power brokers and those that seek power in its absolute sense often seek to capture the regulators for key sectors. When this happens, they usually reserve the power to bend the rules in their favor. Most of the political elite concentrate their wealth by manipulating regulators to waive certain regulations to be in their favor.
