Perseus, the Traditional Hero of the Greek
Perseus was a legend among the Greek, and his life journey was an amazing one. This paper, therefore, discusses the journey of Perseus as a traditional Greek hero; his accomplishments and how his reign was brought to an end. The journey started from his ordinary life, call to adventure, his assistance, how he entered the unknown, the trials, crisis, treasure and the return to the new life.
Perseus mother was called Danae, the daughter of Acrisius. Perseus was conceived after Zeus got her mother pregnant in the form of a golden shower. Perseus was the father of Electryon. Perseus is a significant hero from the mythology of the Greek who is famous for his smart act of executing Medusa, the ogre with the ability to convert into stone all the faces that saw her face. This paper, therefore, discusses the journey of Perseus as a traditional Greek hero; his accomplishments and how his reign was brought to an end.
Polydectes, who had an attempt of wooing Danae, thought Perseus an irritation and sent him on an impossible quest; bringing back Medusa’s head. Perseus operated successfully without being converted into stone, using a polished shield for a mirror and of course, with the assistance of Hermes and Athena (Hopkins p.344).
