Personal Statement
My central focus in life is in transforming the world and reaching out to those in need. It has been my focus to change the world one person at a time since it is challenging to reach out to everyone in need at the same time. I have been reaching out to diverse individuals through my career and volunteerism. I would love to join the Peace Corps since it is one global organization that would help me attain both my professional and personal goals of transforming the world. Due to its various duties, this organization is viewed as the ultimate development organization in the globe and I desire to be a part of this great institution.
The first reason as to why I would like to join the Peace Corps is because I have a passion for volunteerism. I have volunteered several times and I still have the spirit and energy to reach out to many people. I first volunteered in the year 1995 in Bolivia. I was with the Salesian Lay Volunteer where I had to work with street children and orphans. At times it would be difficult to understand the plight of orphans and street kids until when you get a chance to interact with them. During my stay in Bolivia, I involved myself in various activities such as cleaning, cooking, taking children on outings, facilitating adoptions, and teaching basic literacy.
