The Affordable Care Act is a federal law that was put into place in 2010 by President Barack Obama. Also known as Obamacare, the law provides for a fundamental reform of the United States healthcare and health insurance. It was designed with the sole purpose of allowing U.S. citizens to have affordable and easily accessible health care. While this act seemed significant in reforming the entire United States health care system, the system is still in a great mess. President Trump, along with many other Americans, believes this is a faulty system that will not work for the country. He stated that Obama’s health care law is collapsing with most self-employed Americans paying out of their pockets for healthcare because not all health care facilities accept Obamacare. However, one company called Aledade established with the Affordable Care Act as an incentive for start-up on changing how healthcare is provided has proved significant in reducing the cost of health care while at the same time improving how patients are treated (Manjoo, 1).
