In every setting where humans operate, there is need to have a safe environment. The school setting just like any other place, the school requires constant monitoring and assessment of health and safety of those occupying the school environment. Changing populations demand continued reviewing of existing health and safety risk assessments as well as having an expert review the current assessment on health and risk (Shields).
In conducting health and safety assessment in a school setting, those who have the mandate of undertaking the procedures must work according to an already existing outline. Evaluation occurs as per existing structures. Some of the structures that make monitoring of health and safety risk in a school setting are a policy statement, insurance cover, a legal framework, and standard operating procedures among many other formations a school may adopt. A policy statement should outline the responsibilities of various actors tasked with ensuring good health and safe environment in a school.
