Racism is a social thorn ever since slavery was introduced in the United States of America in the early 18 century. Dissimilar to this belief, earlier it was the law of the land that the black community often referred to as the Negro, to be segregated and be submitted to torture and mistreatment for they were property. This article highlights the incidence that occurred in Charlton, Texas during 1950 and recent times, showing how the social injustices have been modified and resolved during the particular period.
As portrayed from the documentary, civil rights movements was a struggle against the social prejudice that had initially that took place in Charlton, Texas. The black populace of this state had taken up arms to fight alongside segregation that had blanketed the education system. Moreover, the faction had gained support when the supreme courts made segregation illegal in public institutions. Following this ruling, John Casper who was an activist at that particular time organized campaigns against the judicial verdict that shocked the community. As a result, fellow communities in and around Texas were inspired by the courage of the citizens of Charlton.
