The concept of the division of power among the three arms of government, which are the presidency, legislature, and judiciary, is a fundamental concept of democracy. It is the engine for a democratic state since each branch of government plays a check and balance role. However, the trend of American politics has always been shifting from the core principle of check and balance among the three arms of government to a system of just division to authority. In this case, the presidency has managed to kill the influence of the other two branches of government (Tulis 118). This impartiality of the presidency has a lot of implication to a democratic state like the United States of America.
The excessive growth of the power of the executive is indeed a serious threat to the constitution. The most likely affected branch of the government, which is ideally meant to be a house of reasons, will tend to stop playing their role and hence obey the commands of the president to pay laws that suit the executive rather than the citizens of the united states of America (Ellis 105). As a result, the fundamental right and freedoms of citizens may be assumed due to that action of the parliament to serve their interest of the executive.
