I don’t support the legislative amendment of various states in America. When people are allowed to possess guns there are high chances of exposing the citizens to a number of crimes. There would be increased cases of both intentional and unintentional injuries and even death. In fact, simple arguments or disagreement would be turned lethal. Fewer guns in the streets especially by government authority would be relatively safer. According to National Bureau of Economic research paper dated August 2012, there was an increment of rape cases by at least 9%, murder rates by 2% as well as such violence as robbery, burglary, assaults and auto theft among other forms of crime. In 1995 a peer review was conducted across five urban cities in the US and published by the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology and was found out that the rates of homicide increased by 4.5% in a population of 100, 000 people after the implementation of the “shall-issue” laws (Bartley, William and Mark, 263).
Indeed, those who carry weapons feel unsafe. According to the poll of Illinois carried out on March 10th 2014 indicated that 52% of its citizens felt not secure anymore following the enactment of the law that permitted guns to the citizens as concealed.
