Tuesdays with Morrie by M. AlbomTuesdays with Morrie by M. Albom, listed as a memoir, a biographic fiction as well as a philosophical fiction. The author recounts the moments spent together with his Sociology Professor, Morrie Schwartz at Brandeis University, who was 78-years old and passed-on as a result of ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). The initial chapters of the book incorporate part of the ambiguous start of a conversation between the professor and Albom. Also, the sections talk of a short flashback on the author’s graduation and a set of events that happened when Albom reunited with his professor. The author, inspired by the fourteen Tuesdays he met with his professor, his life experiences, flashbacks as well as allusions resulting from contemporary events.
The first quote that demonstrates essential idea from the book is “accept what you can do and what you are not able to do” (Albom 18).
